Laars Heating Systems was founded in 1948 when engineer Avy Miller established Laars Engineering in California. The company pioneered the concept of heating water quickly using finned copper tube heat exchangers, which could heat water up to nine times faster than traditional cast iron vessels. Today Laars is a subsidiary of Bradford White Corporation and is headquartered in Rochester, New Hampshire. The company manufactures boilers, water heaters, combination units, and pool heaters for residential and commercial markets.
